“Let's be an important voice in society beyond the classroom”, was the motto of Joel Huegel West, Tec Guadalajara researcher, after winning the 2021 Inspiring Professor national award from Tec de Monterrey.
“Teaching is a passion; I love meeting young people who are growing and doing my bit”, added the academic, who, prior to the national phase, won the medal for the second time in the Western Region of the Tec.
“Last year it seemed that I could be nominated, so I really wanted to do other things to have a good application in 2021,” recalled the professor from the Tec's School of Engineering and Sciences(EIC).
It has been almost 20 years since Joel began his journey as a teacher on the Guadalajara campus, where in addition to teaching, he is dedicated to research and leads the Biomechatronics Lab.
His performance as a teacher now led him to win the Tec Inspirational Teacher Award nationally and for the second time in the western region (2021 and 2015).
